Stephen Williams MP blasts Cardinal’s ‘grossly offensive’ comments on gay marriage

March 7, 2012 5:37 PM

Liberal Democrat MP for Bristol West, Stephen Williams, has added his voice to those criticising recent comments made by Roman Catholic Cardinal Keith O'Brien, when he called gay marriage a 'grotesque subversion of a universally accepted human right' and compared it to slavery.

Stephen has called these comments 'astonishing' and 'grossly offensive' and argues that the Coalition Government should continue to press ahead with plans to introduce the right to a full and equal civil marriage for all couples, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Stephen has written an article about gay marriage, which you can read here.
