Paddy Ashdown joins Stephen on a visit to St Barnabas School in Bristol

On Wednesday 28th April Stephen was joined by former Party Leader Paddy Ashdown and TV personality & party supporter Floella Benjamin on a visit to St Barnabas School in Bristol.

During the visit the three of them went round many different classes, speaking to the children and the teachers about the school. One class had been working on some posters for fictitious political parties that they had been asked to create, so Stephen and Paddy helped them to draft their manifestos! Afterwards, Floella narrated a story to the children.

Commenting on the visit Stephen said, "I have visited St Barnabas school several times over the last five years and it is always a pleasure to come back. I believe that support for schools, especially in the younger years, needs to be a priority, which is why the Liberal Democrats have made it one of our four key pledges for the General Election."

Prior to the school visit, Stephen and Floella attended the ASDAN Showcase Celebration in Clifton, Bristol, to meet school children from across the South and South West and hear about their achievements. The event celebrated all aspects of excellence in ASDAN (a charity that works towards the advancement of education and personal achievements), from students taking part in their practical learning programmes, to staff who deserved special recognition for their support. The event involved over 100 students showcasing their achievements, with certificates being presented by Stephen and Floella.

If you are a resident of the Bristol West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
