MP takes part in ESOL lesson

Stephen Williams MP visited the new Learn Direct outlet at the Malcolm X Centre in St Pauls. He took part in an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) lesson. These courses are run by Learn Direct and other providers at many locations in the inner city. However, many of them are now facing an uncertain future as the Government is cutting the funds available for adult learning.

Stephen said, "I enjoyed the lesson and meeting several people new to Bristol from Somalia, Iraq and Eastern Europe. These ESOL lessons are absolutely essential to enable people to integrate into British society and for them to find work. It is incredibly short sighted for the Government to cut this vital provision."
