Stephen met with Friends of Suburban Bristol Railway (FOSBR) at Redland Station and took their 'Transport Message' with him to present to MPs on the South West Transport Group.

Stephen shares FOSBR's concerns that transport decision makers have a lax attitude in relation to rail. As FOSBR say, 'It appears that the consensus of opinion by key decision makers is that road transport is the favoured option, despite all the evidence that this alone is not the way forward. Lip service seems to be given to any proposed rail improvement schemes but then, behind closed doors, these are either dismissed or relegated to so far in the future that they will never happen.'

Stephen, together with FOSBR, is now campaigning for further improvements to the Severn Beach Line and is also looking to secure funding for the reopening of a passenger service to Portishead.

Stephen said, 'Improving these services is vital, they will give good value for money and will help stimulate the local economy when the upturn occurs. The environmental benefits are also clear and the move would help sort out Bristol's chaotic transport infrastructure.'

If you are a resident of the Bristol West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
