Stephen Williams Encourages Local Consultation in Ashley

April 7, 2008 12:54 PM

A London based property company has announced that it plans to consult local residents about the redevelopment of the former Brooks dry cleaning building. Lib Dem councillors Dr Jon Rogers and Shirley Marshall have been approached to recommend suitable alternative uses for the building.

Stephen Williams, Lib Dem MP for Bristol West, has welcomed the chance for local residents to become involved in the process.

"I believe that this is a wonderful opportunity for the developers to renovate the building in a sustainable way and which would be of benefit to the local community and help to keep the environmental costs to a minimum."

Stephen Williams also commented that some form of community housing could help to improve cohesion within the area.

"It would be wonderful for the local people if this development could be used to provide quality community housing. This would help to ensure that the St Werburgh's area has meaningful regeneration which the residents could be proud of."

Cllr Jon Rogers commented that

"The proposal could suit a mixed use facility possible some retail space and family accommodation which the area is desperately short of."

If you are a resident of the Bristol West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
