Stephen Williams MP calls for withdrawal timetable for our troops in Iraq

Stephen Williams MP has called on new Prime Minister Gordon Brown to announce a timetable for the withdrawal of British Troops from Iraq.
Stephen Williams MP commented;
"We've been told that under Gordon Brown there will be a new type of government, one which places substance above style, one without spin doctoring or media games. Brown claims his government want to build trust, recognise what matters to the people and put the power in their hands.
Surely if Brown wants to rebuild the trust lost through Blair's ill conceived, irresponsible and damaging war, a war which Brown advocated internationally, he must listen to the calls of the British public to end this occupation.
Our prolonged involvement in Iraq is plunging Iraq further into disarray. Both for the soldiers fighting in this war and for the innocent civilians murdered daily by terrorists on the streets of Basra and Baghdad, we must see a structured and definitive time-line for withdrawal of our troops in Iraq. Our continued presence is part of the problem, rather than the solution to Iraq's problems."
