Stephen Williams MP has presented an Early Day Motion to the House of Commons praising former Lib Dem councillor Paul Potts. The motion congratulates Paul for winning the recent TV competition 'Britain's Got Talent' and securing a lucrative recording contract. The motion also thanks Paul for his past contributions as a Liberal Democrat councillor in Bristol.

Stephen Williams MP commented;

"I am delighted for Paul. This is a fantastic achievement and he has made real sacrifices to achieve his goal. He deserves this fantastic opportunity to fulfil his dreams.

I was Leader of the Liberal Democrat group when Paul won the Eastville by election in March 1996. He became the youngest member of the Council, replacing me in that role! I have watched with interest the progress of his singing career and am pleased for his parents Roland and Yvonne. It's great that Paul has re-opened many people's eyes to opera and classical music through his performances on the ITV1 show 'Britain's Got Talent', which showcases real talent rather than the dumb performances on some other so called reality programmes."

    If you are a resident of the Bristol West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

    If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
