Liberal Democrat MP for Bristol West, Stephen Williams, is calling on all those who served in the British armed forces before 1970 to claim their veterans badge.
Groups eligible for the new badge are:
• Merchant Navy Seamen, Home Guard, Polish Forces under UK Command and members of the Cyprus Regiment during the Second World War.
• War widows or widowers who receive a War Widows/Widowers Pension.
• Veterans of the Suez Canal Zone 1951-54.
• Anyone who served in the Armed Forces up to 31st December 1969.
Stephen Williams said "We owe our war veterans a huge debt for defending our country and keeping it safe from invading armies and dangerous ideologies. I hope all those entitled will claim this badge so that others can recognise the sacrifice they made."
