Stephen Williams, Liberal Democrat MP for Bristol West, and Doug Naysmith, Labour MP for Bristol North West, visited the 'Caring at Christmas' shelter on Saturday 18th November.
The MPs attended an open day at the 'Caring at Christmas' centre, on Little Bishop Street in St Paul's. The open day was aimed at recruiting volunteers to help out as the centre opens over the Christmas period to provide the homeless people of Bristol with shelter, food and Christmas gifts.
Mr. Williams said: "It is easy to take for granted the traditional comforts that most of us are used to at Christmas time. It is highly commendable that volunteers are willing to give up their spare time to help keep the shelter open round the clock over the Christmas period. Their work can make a big difference to the lives of the homeless; providing beds, washing facilities, meals and companionship."
A member of Mr. Williams' staff will be volunteering at the centre over the Christmas period and his Bristol office is being used to collect donated food, clothes and blankets to give to the project.
