Williams visits mosque after vandals attack

July 25, 2005 4:12 PM
Stephen Williams MP greets worshipers at a local mosque

"We must not let vandals divide our communities" says Stephen Williams MP.

Stephen Williams MP visited the Shahjalal Jame Mosque in Easton on Friday to show the support of the people of Bristol West, following vandalism in the wake of the London terrorist attacks.

Only days after the London tube bombings yobs smashed a number of windows on the front of the mosque in the dead of night. Stephen Williams greeted worshipers as they left Friday prayers before being shown the damage by Mr Wahab, of the Bristol Bangladeshi Association. He then entered a question and answer session in which he listened to the concerns of some of the mosque users.

Stephen said "It is very important that we don't allow a few drunken thugs to intimidate worshipers or divide our communities. I am pleased to be able to come here on behalf of Bristolians of all religions and non to show a bit of solidarity."

If you are a resident of the Bristol West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
