Stephen Williams is predicted to win in Bristol West.
The Western Daily Press have predicted that Stephen Williams will be victorious for the Liberal Democrats in Bristol West.
"One of the most exciting seats in the West." It states "...the 4,426 majority of Labour's Valerie Davey... is set to be overtaken by Liberal Democrat Stephen Williams."(April 28th p.9)
The paper also expects Lib Dem gains elsewhere in the region, this time from the Tories. "The yellow tide could prove particularly difficult to stem in Somerset and Dorset, where the Liberal Democrats have been gathering momentum since 1997" (April 28th p.8)
The Bristol Evening Post has also stated that the Lib Dems can win Bristol West. It reports on a new ICM poll that gives the Lib Dems the support of 47% of students as well as a MORI poll that would see "Bristol West fall to the Lib Dems." (April 28th p.7)
Local magazine Venue is similarly upbeat. They say that the Lib Dems have "the most posters in people's window and gardens." and predict a close finish "We'll have a tenner on a Lib Dem win, another tenner on a Labour hold, and, just to be safe, five quid on a recount and a court case over postal ballots"! (No.661, p24)
