Prospective Lib Dem MP for Bristol West, Stephen Williams, carries out a survey with a commuter on Whiteladies Road.
Strong public support for another attempt at a tram network for Bristol has been shown by a new Lib Dem survey. Just under seventy per cent of respondents want to see the Council revive plans for a tram system in the city.
The survey was delivered to all households in the Bristol West parliamentary seat by the Liberal Democrats. Over 500 residents answered the detailed two page questionnaire. Prospective MP Stephen Williams is pleased by the response, "It shows that transport is a burning issue for many Bristolians. It is taking us a long time to sort through all the replies but one thing that is crystal clear is that people are very disappointed that the tram project failed and they want the council to have another go."
As well as hand delivering surveys to each house Stephen Williams also spent several mornings and evenings chatting to commuters at bus stops along Gloucester Road, Whiteladies Road and College Green. Rail passengers at Clifton Down station were also surveyed.
The survey also asked about attitudes towards bus lanes, speed cameras and congestion charging. Full results will be announced soon.
